HISTORY OF ADAMS ECLC
Adams Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) opened its doors in September, 2016 bringing together the Early Childhood Special Education classes within Desert Sands Unified School District along with Head Start and the California State Preschool program. Adams ECLC is located in the heart of the community in downtown La Quinta and serves students in both Early Childhood Special Education and Early Childhood Education.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Preschool Programs
There are a continuum of ECSE preschool programs designed specifically for children who qualify for special education services and require a self contained setting in order to address their specific areas of need. Students in these programs must have an active Individual Education Program (IEP). Teaching staff is fully credentialed through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
Head Start Preschool (DSUSD ECE)
Head Start at Adams ECLC is a part day program which provide services during the traditional school year. Head Start is a federally funded program that reserves 10% of the enrollment slots for children with an Individual Education Plan (IEP). The part-day program is Monday-Thursday from 8-11:30 am or 12:15-3:45 pm.
California State Preschool Program (CSPP) (DSUSD ECE)
The CSPP at Adams ECLC is a part-day preschool program Monday-Friday from 8-11 am or 12-3 pm during the traditional school year.
All ECE Programs support the social, emotional, physical and educational need of the child in a safe and healthy environment. Each of the programs is based on solid developmentally appropriate practices that foster language and literacy. School readiness skills which include social-emotional and academics is the focus of our program.
Teaching staff is fully credentialed through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). The support staff is well trained and knowledgeable of community resources, mental health, social services, health and nutrition.
